Guardian Consent Terms (members aged 13–15)
The consent a parent or guardian gives before a 13–15 year old can join, and the protections that apply to that account.
- Version
- 2026-09-01.1
- In effect from
- 1 September 2026
- When you accept it
- Accepted by a guardian before a 13–15 year old joins
Accepted by the guardian, and separately acknowledged by the young person, before a member aged 13–15 can use the Service.
1. Who this covers
Anyone aged 13 to 15. A 16 or 17 year old may hold their own account without guardian consent, but may still choose to join a Care Circle. The Service is not available under 13.
2. What you are consenting to, as guardian
- The young person holding an account with their own private space.
- Collection of the wellness data described in the Privacy Policy, on the reduced basis in Section 4 below.
- The young person appearing in your Care Circle, with the sharing scopes agreed in Section 5.
3. What the young person is told
Before they can use the Service, the young person is shown — in plain language — what you can and cannot see, and that they can ask to change it. We do not operate silent monitoring. A young person always knows what is being shared and with whom, on a screen they can open at any time.
4. Reduced collection for these accounts
For 13–15 accounts we automatically:
- disable public community posting (they can still read);
- disable location-based features;
- disable behavioural recommendations derived from sensitive inferences;
- disable marketing email entirely;
- shorten analytics retention to 12 months.
5. What a guardian can see
Sharing is scoped, and never full access. The available scopes are:
| Scope | Guardian sees | Guardian never sees |
|---|---|---|
| Rhythm | Whether a check-in happened today, and the current streak | Any content |
| Trend | A 7-day direction of travel: steadier / mixed / harder | Individual entries or emotions |
| Signals | A flag when a pattern crosses an agreed threshold | Why, in the young person's own words |
| Notes shared with you | Only entries the young person explicitly sends | Everything else |
Journal text, S.E.W. sentences, coaching session content and Care records are never visible to a guardian under any scope.
6. The young person's rights
- They can see exactly what is shared, on the Circle → What they see screen.
- They can request a scope be narrowed. The request is visible to you and to us.
- They can privately reach a coach or a crisis resource without it appearing in your view. This is deliberate: a support route a young person believes is monitored is a support route they will not use.
- At 16 the account converts: guardian scopes drop to Rhythm unless the young person re-consents.
7. Safety escalation
If a Signals-scope threshold is crossed, we notify the guardian and surface support options to the young person at the same time. Neither of you learns something about the other's screen that the other has not been told about.
Where there is a reasonable belief of imminent risk to life, we may contact emergency services regardless of scope.
8. Withdrawing consent
You may withdraw consent at any time from Circle → Members. The young person's account is closed within 7 days and their data deleted within 30, unless they are 16 or older by then and choose to continue independently.
